Hunter Business School’s Clinical Medical Assistant Program prepares students to perform both administrative & clinical tasks under the direction of a physician. As a critical link between the patient & the doctor, medical assistants serve in lots of capacities: receptionist, secretary, insurance coder, patient educator & clinical assistant. The latter requiring the medical assistant to perform venipuncture, prepare patients for examinations, assist with examinations & special procedures, & perform EKG & various laboratory tests. Students spend 160 hours at an externship at an actual work surroundings in order to gain valuable “on the job” training.
